Seems that the OS is acting like the Control key is permanently down because after the script has been launched I notice other errant behaviour such as consecutively clicking on filenames in an Explorer Window selects them as if the control key is down.Īny advice or help would be greatly appreciated. The exact same issue happens in Illustrator with the Tool Palette. Then when I do get the Tool Palette back the script no longer has any effect yet it is still running.

On a Windows/generic PC keyboard, the Mac modifier keys are as follows Windows/Start key: Command Key. Follow the on-screen instructions to help macOS recognize your keyboard. This will open the keyboard identification window. It works but it also deactivates the Photoshop Tool Palette (still visible just can't click on a tool). Open System Preferences and select Keyboard.

The Command key on a Mac Keyboard acts as the Windows key, so in essence all I want to do is swap the Windows key with the Control key on the left hand side.Īfter reading the documentation for about half an hour I wrote this script for Photoshop: If not you can add it by clicking on the '+' sign and choose. Check if Command button 'Cmd' is assigned to 'Win'. Choose your Windows virtual machine and in Profile select 'Windows'. Press the Show all key mappings button in the application to get this table as a popup window. CONTROL+F3, then UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to select minimized windows on Dock, then ENTER. That right key acts like the Alt Gr key on Windows keyboards. DEL (Mac notebooks: Function (fn)+DELETE) View item information or properties. Press that right key with the 3rd character key. in my keyboard the command key is mapped to the windows key (Im using a regular PC keyboard) so I only have a left command, because the space on the right is. As noted above, the Alt key is the same as the Option key on the Mac, while the Windows key is the same as the Command key.

It seems to work some of the time, but not consistently, perhaps because at the same time it’s trying to open the start menu on the client machine. Map the alt function to the right command, option or control key. This simple remapping lets you correct one of the most common issues associated with using a Windows keyboard with a Mac, and that is the physical location of the Alt and Windows keys.

I want to maintain the Control key as a control key when using certain 3D applications. Click on Parallels Desktop menu (from Mac menu bar) and choose Preferences. When connecting from the free Windows client (Windows 7, NoMachine v4.1.29) to a desktop running the free Mac OS server (v4.1.29), the Windows key is mapped to the Mac command key. I'm using an Apple USB keyboard on it and the transition has been mostly painless but I'm wanting to recreate the Command Key of a Mac keyboard when in certain applications ie Photoshop and Illustrator and general Windows OS use. I've recently purchased a Windows XP machine having been a Mac User for some time.
